TS5MP645: Bandwidth?

Part Number: TS5MP645
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS5MP646

Hi TI

Does the 1GHZ bandwidth in the TS5MP645NYFPR specification refer to the total data passing through IC in unit time or through the total data of each channel?

Is it calculated by double sampling (rising and falling edges) of mipi clock?

Thank you

Jerry

  • Jerry,

The bandwidth of the device stated in the datasheet is the frequency where a sine wave is attenuated-3dB during a frequency sweep.  This bandwidth spec is for individual channels.

The data rates are typically shown as eye diagrams as you can see in the TS5MP646 device which is the higher bandwidth version in the MIPI switch family. Typically we recommend selecting a device with bandwidth 1.5 x the datarate.  For example, below you can see for a 2.5 Gbps clock we would recommend a device bandwidth to be 3.75 GHz to support that clock frequency.  You can see that the TS5MP646 device doesn't have any issues because it has good bandwidth performance.

You can find more information on the MIPI datarate for C-PHY and D-PHY and how it relates to per channel frequencies in this post.

    Thank you,

    Adam
