SN74CBT3384C: Power consumption question

Genius 17295 points
Part Number: SN74CBT3384C

Hello,

I would like to confirm how to think about power consumption of SN74CBT3384C from the datasheet.
The below is from the datasheet. How to think about this data?

What input is 3.4V in this case? One of V_I/O?
If it is one of V_I/O, why 3.4V is used for this specification?

Also what is “Other inputs” of “Other inputs Vcc or GND”?

Regards,
Oba

  • Hi Oba,

    Thank you for using e2e.

When the input voltage is not at GND or Vcc, there is an increase in supply current from the baseline (Icc) due to partial turn on of both the PMOS and NMOS transistors. This increase in current is the delta Icc highlighted in the datasheet.

The test conditions in the highlighted row show one input at 3.4V (spec is only measured at 3.4V), and the measured supply current (maximum) was 2.5mA. Other OE inputs  are at VCC or GND. This is how we test the change in supply current.

The application note 'Understanding Standard Logic Datasheets' explains this in more detail on page 52.

    Thanks

    Saminah
