CD4051B: CD4051B Vih minimum level with single 3.3V power supply

Part Number: CD4051B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX1308

Hi team,

My customer wants to use a 3.3V MCU to control CD4051B. The I/O voltage of the MCU is 0V/3.3V. So to be compatible to CD4051B, they plan to use a single 3.3V power supply for CD4051B. I assume CD4051B Vih minimum level should be 3.3V*0.7 but it is not characterized in the datasheet. So I just want to double check with you. Thanks.

Best regards,

Wayne

  • Hi Wayne,

    Thank you for using e2e.

Based on the datasheet Vih spec you can see that the control logic is the standard CMOS input buffer control logic and follows the rule of thumb Vcc x 0.7.  With this rule of thumb, the Vcc = 3.3 V will have a Vih min of 2.3 V.

I would also recommend, for an 8:1, 1-channel, 3.3 V supply voltage rail, to use our new TMUX1208 if you are multiplexing digital GPIO or clock signals.

If you are multiplexing analog signals like from a senor, I would recommend TMUX1108

We also have the new TMUX1308 in similar configuration and low cost.

    Regards,

    Saminah
