Dir TI support team,

I'm developng a simple circut that ,among others functions, need to drive an engin ( 5-9v , 1-2 amper). in order to drive the engine I need to choose the right load switch.

i have already read your Basics of Load Switches guide, however since i'm new to this aplication i want to be as sure as pssible, that i'm choosing the right part.

do you have particular part that you can recommand?

i need a part with reverse current protection and that consums low shutdown current.

i notice that when i set the seach to Vin max > 6v , only 4 possible parts left. isnt it essential for my aplication? how come there are only 4 parts with this character?

What is the max Vin voltage? Do you prefer any other protection features other than reverse current protection ?

the max voltage to the engine is 12v, but the numinal is 6-9v. this means that the max Vin voltage is 12v ?

I didnt think about other protection features, is there additional recomendataion beyod reverse current protection to this kind of aplication?

Hello Evyatar,

For the 12V maximum input the TPS22810 would be a good fit. This supports up to a 3A continuous load current and has a quick output discharge functionality that is nifty for ensuring power rails are grounded when on in use.

One quick question- it sounds like your load is a motor. Do you know if there will be any significant inductances on the load? This device does not have reverse current blocking so if a inductive spike caused a reverse current condition it could potentially damage the part without added protections.

the TPS22810 seems to be a good option, however, i think the reverse current blocking is essential for my aplication. is there additional device with similar properties that includes also OCP?
