CD74HC4067: Is this Mux fast enough to switch10MHz signal without any problem

Part Number: CD74HC4067

1) We need to use 8 of this part in my project, my Arduino can supply 5.5V but I don't know if I can feed all 8 Mux by only one 5.5v pin of my Arduino or not? Keep in mind that at a certain time only one of these

8 Mux is enable so my question is "Is Mux using power when it is connect to 5.5v power supply but it is not enable?"

2)I use these Mux as switch in a RF circuit with 10MHz frequency. The other question is "Is this Mux fast enough to switch10MHz signal without any problem ?"

  • Hi Saeid,

Can you share block diagram of your application?

    1. If you are using one CD74HC4067 at a time, then the 5.5V supply can be used to power up each switch.

    2.  When /E = 1 or logic high, the signal switch creates a high impedance path between the drain and source.  These are solid state FET switches so there isn't a true open circuit like a mechanical switch.I found the following thread on current consumption of CD74HC4067.

    3. We recommend using a switch with 3x the signal frequency. You should not have a problem with 10MHZ signal. You can also look at the MUX506 and MUX36S16 have bandwidth of 500MHz which can pass signals that much faster than the CD74HC4067 89MHz.
