SN74LV4051A: versus CD74HC4051

Hi,

these two devices seems interchangeable.

My customer used to use CD4051, and the signal is within 5V in some of the application, so both CD74HC4051 and SN74LV4051A are usable, should I promote which one?

The LV does not have break-before-make, but has lower Ron.

There are many other possible replacements; the one you should promote is the TMUX1208, or the shiny new TMUX1308.

Hi Howard,

As you mentioned, both CD74HC and SN74HC4051 can support 5V applications but we have new TMUX parts in similar configuration that offer more features.

The new TMUX1308 has 1.8-V compatible control inputs, Break-before-make, Fail-safe logic and Injection current control and is available in 16-pin SOT-23-THN package.
