TS3L501E: Transformer-less approach for Gigabit application

Part Number: TS3L501E

Hi Team,

Understand that the TS3L501E does not require magnetics to operate, but is it possible to apply the ideas in this ethernet app note along with the TS3L501E in the config as below?

  • Hi David,

You are right -  the TS3L501E does not require any magnetics to operate.  This is a passive FET switch and can support any signal as long as the voltages are within the recommended operating condition and the switch’s bandwidth limitations wont impact the protocol passing through the device.

To help you with configuring transformerless systems, I will loop you in with the Ethernet team.

    Regards

    Saminah

  • Hi David,

I dont see here a query for Ethernet team. We can carry on with discussion over email if you need any clarification from Ethernet team.
