Data rate of Switches

Hi Team,

One of my customers want to choose digital switch chip for RS-232 singal.
The voltage of RS-232 is +/-15V so I chose "Switches & multiplexers" as below:
https://www.ti.com/switches-multiplexers/analog/products.html#p3307=+/-15

However RS-232 is up to 20Kbps and I couldn't find the data rate option.
Do "Switches & multiplexers" not limit the data rate?
Is my selection correct?

Beat Regards,
Tom Liu

  • The analog bandwidth specification shows at which frequency a sine wave gets attenuated by 3 dB. A safe rule of thumb to get the maximum frequency for digital signals is to divide this frequency by ten.

All these devices are more than fast enough.

(An analog switch behaves pretty much like a resistor, so the bandwidth is limited by the low-pass filter that is formed by this Ron and any parasitic capacitances in the circuit.)
