TMUX1511: Need information about power off protection of TMUX1511

Part Number: TMUX1511

Hi ,

If I operate this IC at 5V , and at 0 Vdd what will be powered of protection voltage ?Will it be 3.6V as per datasheet or 5V?

Actually ,our applications is to sense 0-5 V so there is possibility of 5 V coming to signal pin of MUX , so need clarification . Is Hi Z is enough for that ?

if MUX is operating at 5V and in off condition 5V comes on signal path will it be ok or damage the IC ?

for more clarification pls see attached image , we are shorting 100 k ( i.e, connecting DE_AIN_A_V_P and DE_AIN_A_V_Z_P ) with help of MUX ., but if MUX is operating at 5V and in off condition 5V comes on signal i.e, at 560R path will it be ok or damage the IC ? another thing is i have also tested TI's TS3A4751PWRG4 and this IC satisfies our application but the only thing is it is 3.3V operated IC . Kindly reply with your valuable suggestions

Awaiting for your fast reply. (TI Case no : CS0265817)

Thanks & regards

  • Hi Saurav,

So we didn't spec it to 5V, but the switch will remain in high-impedance as long as you follow the absolute maximum guidelines. Which at 0-5V you did, and there should be no issue. You may see a large leakage current than what is spec'd at 0 to 3V.

The picture did load properly so I am not entirely sure what you are trying to show. But from what I think I can gather, the issue is that your system has an event in which VDD = 0V, and you have up to 5V on the IC pin during this time. This will not damage the IC, you are okay to use the TMUX1511 in this system, we just don't have a typical leakage value spec'd at 5V input is the only difference, but you are not putting the part as risk by doing this.

If there is anything else I can help explain please let me know.

    Best,

    Parker Dodson
