TMUX1112: TMUX1112 issue

Part Number: TMUX1112

Hi TI expert

We are now using TMUX1112 as below schematic.

We only use S3 channel, but it has breakdown. We have ordered a hundred thousand, but appears ten thousand breakdown. But when short circuit pins 10 and 11, it can solve this issue. Please kindly help what is the issues.

Best regards,

Thomas

  • Hi Li,

I am bit confused by the above schematic.

S3 connects to D3 when the switch is closed - the schematic has D2 and S3 shown active. When the switches are closed D2 will be shorted to S2, D1, and S1 while S3 is shorted to D3 , S4, and D4 which is shorted to ground. The switch can be broken due to overcurrent, the switch at S3 is going to be a low impedance to ground with a typical impedance of ~7.4 Ohms at 3.3V. The max voltage in this setup has to be below  ~ 220mV or else you could cause the part to break down from overcurrent.

What are the signals that are being passed through the device (for example signal levels and bandwidth) - and what exactly is the application - I am a bit confused why the multiplexer is being wired the way it is.

Finally shorting pin 10 to 11 bypasses the switch and negates the mux there.

Please let me know so I we can look a bit deeper into the problems you are seeing.

    Best,

    Parker Dodson
