TS3A44159 I/O loading issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3A44159, TS3A5018

I’ve got my boards back and I’m experiencing a problem with the TI TS3A44159 analog switch.  I use this part in order to connect to the spi flash that holds my fpgas’ program.  The switch seems to be loading down the bus lines such that they can’t talk through it.  I am able to program the flash through the switch but not able to boot from it….  In the datasheet it seems to indicate that the switch has an on capacitance of 160pF (that seems crazy high so I’m thinking maybe I’m misunderstanding the datasheet)…

Tks,

Clay

  • Clay,

You are interpreting the TS3A44159 datasheet correctly and indeed the on capacitance specification is 160pF.  If you are looking for a similar 4 channel 1:2 (SPDT) switch with lower on capacitance I would recommend the TS3A5018 which has 10 times less on capacitance typically 16pF.

    Thank you,

    Adam
