CCS: CCS Blackhawk jtag drivers

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello,

It seems that from CCS version 7.4 the JTAG BLACKHAWK drives were updated.

I had lots of issues with the JTAG - keeps disconnecting and working erratically and i could not figure out what went happend until i noticed that the drivers version is different form the drivers i was working on when used an older CCS version.

I cant tell if the new drivers are problematic in general or if there is a specific collision between the new drivers and my setup.

In either case i was hoping there is a simple way to revert back to the older drivers version (at least until anew updated/fixed drivers will come up) - i could not find any way to do this easily and the only way that i could accomplish this was to unintall the current drivers, download an old CCS version and ask the new CCS to install drivers from the local extracted old CCS that i have downloaded - which is pretty messy having to go through all that...

Can you suggest an easier way (i could not find the older drivers anywhere except in an old CCS version package

Thanks

Guy

  • Guy,

In recent months it was identified a problem between Blackhawk drivers and Secure Boot. Check the threads below:

    e2e.ti.com/.../651700
    e2e.ti.com/.../678975

Perhaps that would help you overcome the issues you are having?

If you want to install older drivers, I would download the offline installer of any desired CCS release and extract the Blackhawk driver installer package from its setup.

The installer packages are usually .zip/.jar files located under the directory featurerepo/binary.

In the case of Blackhawk, the installer package starts with com.bh.ccstudio.emulation.win32_root_<version number>

Append a .zip extension and extract. You should end up with a directory downloads/bh_emupack_setup_<version_number>.exe

Completely remove the previous device drivers from the Device Manager before installing the older package.

    Hope this helps,
    Rafael
  • Hi, Thank you.

so far i had to revert to older JTAG drivers but i from reading the discussions it appears there may be newer drivers and i will try them too even though from the description of the other posts, the problem i am experiencing does not seem like the UEFI issue (i had not problem installing the driver and it functions but keeps disconnecting randomly)

    Thanks
