C5515 Example Project Debugger Issue

Hi Ki,

I actually built this application and created the .out file on this specific PC. Hence my confusion

I tried using the Locate File button and navigated to the folder with the file, but the GUI was not showing any files in the folder (I'm not sure why this is because I verified that the file path was correct.

Go to the Project Explorer and right-click on main.c and select 'Properties' in the context menu. In the dialog that appears, select 'Resource' in the left pane and then look at the location field for the file. What is the path?

The path seems correct and points to the file in question:

The file should be at that location. CCS detects it. Use the Locate File button to browse to it. It should be there.

The Locate File button does not show any files in that specific folder. Please see the following images

This is looking in the Debug subfolder of the project folder. This is a different path than the location of the source file. From the above dialog, please browse to the location of the source file you showed in the second screenshot

Ah, sorry. I took the wrong screenshot.

Here is the folder in question. 

That is still the wrong folder.

You need to browse to:

C:/Users/Aadu Prakash/projects/tagOS_c55xx/usbstk5515_v1/tests/USB_Stick_Sample/src

NOT 

C:/Users/Aadu Prakash/projects/tagOS_c55x/tests/USB_Stick_Sample/src

Ok, not sure how that happened again. But here is the actual folder. It's still showing up as empty:

Ok, that is the correct folder. Note that the dialog is asking you to browser to the location of the file. That 'src' is correct. If you press the 'Select Folder' button, it should automatically open the file.

Ah I understand. But upon clicking "Select Folder" the message does not go away.

After you selected the folder, it should have opened that file in the editor. That did not happen?

It did not. I'm very confused!

I'm confused about a number of things.

Can you clean the project and then rebuild it? By virtue of the project being open in the Project Explorer and built from there, the debugger should automatically have no issue finding the source files in the first place.

Cleaned and Rebuilt. There were 3 warnings. 2 were of unused variables in main.c. The 3rd was the following:

"warning: entry-point symbol other than "_c_int00" specified: "reset_isr"

I then attempted to debug and ran into the same problem.

Can you provide the project? I would need the project and also all source files (likely the whole "tagOS_c55xx" folder).

Thank you. I can reproduce the issue and it is a really strange one that I have never seen before.

If you close the project in the workspace ([right-click]->Close Project) and then manually start a debug session, connect, and load the program, does it find main.c?

Glad to hear it is working for you! I'm still surprised that the device variant setting would impact debugger source lookup like that. I did not think they would be related at all. ANyway I'm glad that resolved the issue.
