CCS Version: 4.1.2.00027 and BLACKHAWK USB2000 Error

I am not 100% sure which dev kit you have, but one thing I had trouble was that in my TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT when I need to disable the onboard emulator using the jumper I still need to keep the USB port connected to power up the isolation circuits on the board.

Check that and see if this applies to your kit as well.

Were you able to program the flash at all using on board emulator and if so, did you set a password for it and lock the device? If you set a password and lock the flash after programming the Piccolo MCU then you won't be able to connect to it using JTAG. I would recommend only locking the flash when you take a product to market. This could be related to emulation code security logic on Piccolo devices. Please see this forum post that discusses this:

Do you mean you updated CCS (either when it prompted you to update or by going to Help->Software Updates->Find and Install) after installing the version from CD? If so, what is your current version of CCS (Help->About)?

Did you also update the Blackhwak drivers when you updated CCS? What is your current version of Blackhwak drivers?(can find out by going to Help->Software Updates->Manage Confiurations, and see the version listed under Blackhawk Emulation).

Before trying to connect with CCS, you may want to verify low level JTAG connection by running the Blackhawk utilities like BHreset and BHprobe.

If there are errors at this level, these need to be rectified first before trying to connect with CCS.

OK, a little more information.

The DVD ROM I received had CCS v4.1.2.00027.  I think there was an old license file hidden somwhere that caused the original problem, so I did a complete uninstall and clean install (on my PC and my laptop).

WIth CCS v4.1.2.00027, I was able to use the Blackhawk USB2000, I could debug in RAM and I could flash the board.  I could use the Blackhawk flash utility and flash the Experimenter board independent of the CCS4 environment.

I then proceeded to update CCS4 from the help->software updates.   I just selected all components CCS4 wanted to update.

The new version reported is CCSv 4.2.1.00004. 

Now, with the same project, I can no longer debug.  I now get the following:

C28xx: Flash Programmer: Missing Flash Programming Settings.

C28xx: Flash Programmer: Error erasing Flash memory.

C28xx: Flash Programmer: Missing Flash operation option. Operation cancelled.

C28xx: Trouble Writing Memory Block at 0x3f72db on Page 0 of Length 0x371

.metadata directory

All files in :C:\Documents and Settings\<myname>\user\CCSTargetConfigurations

All files in: C:\Documents and Settings\<myname>\Local Settings\Application Data\.TI

the ccxml file in the project directory.
