XDS510 replacement suggestions

Still supporting legacy products using the XDS510 USB   It seems its not been manufactured at all, and I'm in need to replace a few broken ones,  Any replacement solutions?

  • Hernan,

There have been quite a few companies that have made XDS510 class debug probes over the years. Spectrum Digital was the most popular and I am guessing that the ones you have are from Spectrum.  The cable assemblies often wear out on them.

    • Which XDS510 are you currently using?
    • What device are you using it with?

Spectrum Digital is no longer in business.  You might luck out and find a distributor that still has some inventory. We stopped selling them at TI quite a few years ago.

Blackhawk had a decent selection of XDS510 products as well.

Their products also show up as discontinued. Maybe they still have some old inventory?

Signum Systems is part of IAR now but their JTAGjet was pretty good and supported a lot of our legacy devices.  It could be an option.  You could see if they still have the drivers for TI devices.  I know they still have the C2000 specific version of the JTAGjet.

    Other options

    • Lots of surplus ones on ebay.  Some are even new.
    • Lots of "XDS510"s from China.  The 510 design was pretty open so there were a lot of companies that made them.  There were also companies that just cloned the Spectrum one.

Personally, I would be more inclined to go with the new ones on ebay.

    John

  • Hello!

For this particular purpose we keep couple machines running Windows 7, where TI XDS560PCI is still could be running. I had a hope for BlackHawk XDS560USB, but unfortunately there is no 64-bit driver, so despite being technically okay, it became a useless brick.

One detour we found is to port legacy project (C6414, CCSv3.3) to modern Eclipse based Code Composer, which in turn supports SpectrumDigital XDS560. However, this way we have no real time log updates, which makes whole setup one legged.
