DM6446 & Blackhawk BH-USB-560bp

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CODECOMPOSER

Hi, I have downloaded a trial of CodeComposer v4.2.3 and I am trying to set up my target configuration.  I am using the Blackhawk BH-USB-560bp jtag on my Davinci DM6446.  In CodeComposer I found the Target Configuration setup, and for the "Connection" field, it was straightforward since I was able to select "Blackhawk USB560-BP Emulator, 20-pin JTAG Cable".  But under the "Board or Device" field, it does not list the DM6446 as an option.  I have been searching these forums and other websites trying to figure out how to obtain whatever files I need to be able to tell CodeComposer that I'm developing on a Davinci device, but I've come up empty.

My only thought is that maybe this configuration is just not available for trial users?  I thought CodeComposer was supposed to be fully functional, but maybe I'm only allowed to use it on specific devices?

Is anybody able to offer any advice on this?

Thanks,

  • This configuration is available in CCS 4.2.3. See below a screenshot from my setup.

There are no restrictions when using CCS with an evaluation license, so you should be able to connect to a DM6446 with Blackhawk emulator.

  • Aarti, your screenshot shows exactly what I am looking for.  Unfortunately, as I already posted, the DM6446 does not appear in my list.  How do I get that?  Are there extra files I need to download from somewhere?  Did I install the wrong version of CodeComposer?  Are you able to tell me what I'm missing?

    Thanks,

How big was the image you downloaded? If it is over 1GB, then you got the correct one. If it was ~350MB, then you downloaded the Microcontroller image, which does not support DM6446.

  • Thank you very much.  That's exactly what I was looking for.  You were correct that I downloaded the Microcontroller version (whatever that means).  I found a different link that was called Platinum, and it was over 1GB.  That has the DM6446 support that I was looking for.  Thanks for the help!
