Cannot import project

I am unable to import a project which requires the MSP430 compiler. When attempting to import, I'm given the following error message:

I then go to the CCS App Center, and install the MSP430 compiler. However, even though it shows as "Up to date", the project still fails to import with the same error message. I've also attempted the "Help > Install New Software..." route and still cannot import the project.

This is on Windows 10.

Hi Andrew,

Some projects need a specific version of the compiler. In this case, you need version 4.4x instead of a later version. What version do you currently have? What version of CCS are you using? Based on your screenshot, it appears to be an older version (CCSv8?)

Hi Ki,

I'm using CCS v6.0.1 as specified by the customer. Also, according to the .ccsproject file, it uses the following codegen version: <codegenToolVersion value="4.4.5"/>.

Go to 'Windows -> Preferences', then see the below screenshot:

Ok, so you have multiple version, but none are 4.4.x.

Go to "Install New Software" and select the options as highlighted below to install MSP430 compiler version 4.4.5

Ok, now I can see the v4.4.5 compiler. However, it won't install because there is a newer version installed.

I deleted the compiler files shown in the "Discovered tools:" window sent earlier. Unfortunately, this didn't help. Is there another version I need to uninstall?

Following the "What is already installed?" link I was able to properly uninstall everything. From there, the MSP430 v4.4.5 was easy to install and I was able to import my project! Thank you for your help, Ki.
