MSP430 G2231 wont run off the dev board

Hi,

I am new to embedded systems.  I am a university student learning about the launchpad on my own.  I have a small program running on the msp430g2231 chip but only on the development board.  When I move the chip off the board and onto my circuit the program doesn't run.

I was trying to lookup about GEL files but I think those apply to microcontrollers that don't have onboard flash.  The G2231 has flash onboard so I don't know if GEL files still apply.

I am using CCS Version: 4.2.3.00004

Any help or ideas as to why the program doesn't run off the dev board would be appreciated.

    Thanks for your quick reply.

    The chip is powered but is not changing my ports to on and off.  I went to the launchpad community site and it led me here to this forum.  After going through other reasons why a chip doesn't 'boot', I posted my question. 

    I found my problem, I didn't have my RST pin high.  I really am a newbie!
