CCSv4.2.3 stuck (or hung) in "Saving Workspace" state

Hi

I have a suspicion this is related to the clearcase plugin. I just finished a build, then cancelled clearcase's pop-ups that asked if I wanted to checking files and add files, and then this popped up. I waited for about 15 minutes (because I didn't want to loose my plots) and eventually had to use the task manager to kill it.

When I started it up again, it did not request to send a dump log. It seems however to take an awfully long time to bring up after I restarted it (i.e. the TI splash stayed on my screen for about 3 minutes before the progress bar became active.

It really bites to have lost all that work!

    Eddie,

    Is this consistently reproducible with a particular sequence of steps related to using Clearcase? If so, could you detail the steps here?

    And if you can reproduce the issue again, could you collect the CCS diagnostic logs(eclipse log and debug server log) and attach them here? In CCS 4.2.3, you can enable generation of these logs from menu Help->CCS Support Activities. Note that debug server log is disabled by default, so you would need to enable it.

    Hi Aarti

    CCS frequently hangs when you have connected to the Clearcase plugin and you compile with auto reload. We are using the C6472 and the developers here have gotten into the habit of disconnecting clearcase when doing builds.

    The "hang" manifests itself as no longer being able to build. You can click the build button until the cows come home and nothing happens.

    I just had another hang (forgot clearcase was attached) and now noticed that I have to enable debug server logging. I'll send u the logs the next time I forget to disconnect from clearcase.
