Hi,

I am trying to read the value of a variable by using real-time debugger from CCS on TMS570LC4357. However, I cannot activate "enable silicon real time mode" button and "enable real time mode" in debug configurations. Can anybody help me what is wrong with the program or configuration?

Hi Kardelen,

The new feature of "Enable Silicon Real-time mode" or "Enable real time mode" in CCS doesn't support TMS570Lx and RM4x/RM5x devices.

Thank you for your answer Wang,

I increase counter and would like to see the change of counter value in each cycle. I cannot use printf in CCS and even real time debugging feature, is there any alternative way to resolve this issue.

The Expressions View in the CCS debugger supports the option of Continuous Refresh which can use the DAP in the ARM Cortex-R5 to read memory while the program in the Cortex-R5 continues to run.

One limitation of devices such as the TMS570LC4357 which contain a cache is that the DAP can only read device memory, and can't see variables in the CPU cache until they are written back to memory. CCS/RM57L843: Can not get the value of global variable in continuous refresh mode - CCS 7.1 Debug describes some options to work-around this limitation.
