Hi,

I have CCS installed on Ubuntu. Then I start CCS it looks like this.

Then I click on the Project Explorer it crashes and shuts down. I tried with a new workspace, same result.

After a reinstallation and an update it works, till I close the CCS and open it again, then same problem.

Has anyone an idea how to fix this? I attached the .dmp file

Hello Dominik,

I do not see any attached *.dmp log. However, .dmp logs are usually generated when there is a debugger crash. Your crash is an IDE crash. Can you provide the Eclipse error log in <WORKSPACE FOLDER>/.metadata/.log?

Also please the exact Ubuntu version and exact CCS version being used.

Thanks. I believe this is the culprit:

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Failed to recognize GtkSocket. Make sure you're using the correct handle and GTK version 3.

Looks like a missing dependency.

I can also reproduce the crash on my Ubuntu 22.04 environment. Note that Ubunti 22.04 is not officially supported by CCS 11.2. I'll see if I can get this working in my environment. Once I do, I''ll let you know.

The below steps worked around the issue for me:

Open a terminal and run the below command:

> export GDK_BACKEND=x11

Then from the terminal, browse to <CCS INSTALL DIR>/ccs/eclipse and run:

> ./ccstudio

FYI - the upcoming CCS 12.0.0 release next month will have a more permanent fix for this issue.
