I am using Code Composer Studio v3.1 to program a TMS320C6713 DSK.

I am using Spectrum Digital's XDS510 USB JTAG Emulator tool and I installed all the latest drivers from their website and from their CD.

My problem is that I am not able to run CCS in ANY of the emulator environments factory boards. The error I get says

"Your Code Composer does not support the connected target. Device driver name: "C:\CCStudio_v3.1\drivers\sdgo6xusb.dvr" "

I tried using custom board with the GEL file of DSK6713. It gives the same error.

I have no problem using the Simulator tool and the inbuilt progammer (ie. USB - type B connector ).

I am aware the this processor and CCS is not recommended for new designs, but this is a last version of a old design.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello,

Are you using a CCS version that came bundled with the DSK? Those versions often do not support external emulators.

Yes, I have installed the CCS that came along with my DSK and JTAG.

I have a 3.3 full version running on my comp. But its a requirement to use 3.1.

Are there any workarounds ?

What is the reason for the requirement? If it is the build tools, you could always use the same build tools that you used in 3.1 with 3.3.

It has been used for this particular project. Thus I am needed to complete the project with it. Is 3.3 completely backward compatible ? Or what all do I need to do to port a 3.1 project on a 3.3 CCS.

Does your project use DSP/BIOS 4.9x? If not, then you shouldn't have much problems opening your CCS 3.1 project with CCS 3.3. You can even download the same version of the compiler you are using in 3.1 and use it with your 3.3 install. See the below link for more info on how to do this:

I tried porting the whole system to CCS 3.3 and I am in a bigger mess. I have the full version of 3.3. I searched for the target contents from spectrum digital website. I downloaded them and it is not an installation file. It was a zip file. I "copy-paste"d them to the CCS3.3 folder to the respective directories. I saved DSK6713 in the CCS3.3 setup. When I tried to run the CCS3.3, the error I got was "Unable to find appropriate registry key for "TMS320C62XX". Target driver: c:\...\sdgodsk6713.dvr".

Please help.
