Why does Code Composer corrupt the project files?

Using CCS4.2.3 I continually encounter:

>> ERROR: Cannot open command file './configPkg/compiler.opt': No such file or directory

"../Preprocessing.c", line 1: fatal error: could not open source file "xdc/std.h"

The only solution is to recreate the project and everything works again, for awhile.

I am not sure what may be happening in your case; CCS usually re-creates those files after a rebuild and I personally didn't experience such behaviour yet. A similar error message was reported in this other post but I don't think it is related to your case.

I imagine that you cleaned the workspace before re-importing the project, right? If not, you could try that if the issue happens in the future - it is the quicker restore method.

Something that I should of mentioned, the error is usually preceded by a message saying the CCS is low on heap memory, say after importing a second project. If/when this happens again I will capture a screen shot.

One thing that is very useful to help with this is the heap monitor. Go to menu Window --> Preferences --> General --> Show heap status.
