Please Clarify CCSV5.1 Licensing

Hi,

We've been using CCSv4 and CCSv5.0 with free/evaluation licenses and that has been fine.

We're were thinking about moving to CCSv5.1 and have just tried it with the 30 day evaluation license and this also works. :-)

We're about to purchase some XDS510s and what are described as CCSv4 licenses.

I appreciate the CCSv4 licenses will work for CCSv5.0 but what happens about CCSv5.1?

Is it possible to upgrade our CCSv4 license to a CCSv5.1 license even though CCSv5.1 is still preproduction/beta? Or, better still, can we just use the activation keys (when they arrive) in CCSv5.1 (without waiting for the final GA release)?

I don't want to bother installing CCSv5.1 (again) if we're going to have to go back to CCSv4.

Any advice about which version to use greatly appreciated (our targets are C6x and OMAP),

Matt

  • Hi Matt,

You v4 license will work with the CCSv5.1 pre-releases. Once v5.1 is officially released, you will need a separate v5.1 license:

    Thanks

    OK, good! :-)

Assuming we have a maintenance contract we'll just go on the web site and get a new activation key or something equally straightforward?

Yes, I read that but was unsure because it didn't explicitly mention the CCSv5.1 pre-releases; I think you've made it quite clear now, thanks!

Yes, you will be eligible for a free upgrade if you are under subscription. I'm not exactly sure what the process is to get your new keys, I think you will be contacted or you can simply e-mail the license team to request an upgrade.
