TMDSIDK437X: Lot Trace Code Clarification for Flashing

Hi there,

I am working with TMDSIDK437X (AM437x) for flashing purposes.

I have three evaluation boards with spec number as:

1. AM4379BZDNAI00 - 81CGQ9W

2. AM4379BZDNAI00 - 81CGQ9W

3. - AM4379BZDNAI00 - 7CAQ6DW

For the first 2 boards, they have the same spec number on the chip, and I was able to flash and boot up both of them successfully.

However, for the third board with Lot Trace Code of 7CAQ6DW, when I flash the bootloader to the offset of 0x0. It was fail at 4%. If I try to flash the bootloader with a different offset, it can go through (just not be able to boot up).

Is there anything that I need to pay attention on the Lot Trace Code?

Please let me know if you have any suggestions or hints for this issue.

Couple of questions

Did you order all the boards together

Are these recently received or you have been previously using

Do all the boards seem to be same version

Can you please send a picture of the device

Thank you for your response.

I'm not sure if we order them all together. However, they are brand new when we received.

My three boards are the same version except one of them has different Lot Trace Code.

Below is the pictures of working and not working board:

1. Working board after flashing:

2. Not working board after flashing:

AM4379BZDNAI00 - 7CAQ6DW

I am checking internally and update you.

To rule out that this is not a board related issues, do you see similar behaviour of the working and non working boards in terms of LED indications etc.

Hi Kallikuppa Sreenivasa,

The 2 versions of the board are working and functioning just fine in Debugging Mode. Only during the flashing process, AM4379BZDNAI00 - 7CAQ6DW has stopped at 4% and reported Flash Failed.

Only during the flashing process, AM4379BZDNAI00 - 7CAQ6DW has stopped at 4% and reported Flash Failed.

Did this happen the very first time when you tried flashing. Was there any program flashed initially and running ?

Hi Kallikuppa Sreenivasa,

The board was not flashed initially. I tried to run it in debugging mode, and it worked fine. Then I tried to flash and notice the issue.

The AM4379 doesn't contain any on-chip flash memory.

The AM437x IDK EVM Hardware User's Guide contains:

2.7.2 SPI NOR Flash
The Industrial EVM supports a 512-Kbit (128K × 4) SPI flash memory from Macronix (MX66L51235FMI-10G) in a 16SOIC package. The SPI port of the AM437X device is used to interface with the flash.

Looking at the schematic U46 is the MX66L51235FMI flash device.

Therefore, the failure to program the flash on the 3rd board could be due to the MX66L51235FMI flash device rather than the AM4379 device.

Are there any Lot Trace Code differences in the MX66L51235FMI flash between the working and non-working boards?
