can't install code composer studio because windows directory isn't in drive C

You should be able to install on a different drive than C:. What was the custom directory you selected? Do you have enough free space on that drive?

I guess that you didn't understand the problem exactly.

I can't select the button custom directory because the errors prevent me to do that:

Ok, I get it now. Your system drive (where Windows is installed) is something besides C: and it seems to be causing a problem. Sorry for the mixup. I'm not aware of such an issue. I'll poke around and see if I can come up with a solution...

Perhaps you could first install a tool to mount virtual drives (MagicIso) and create C:?

Did you try subst?

> subst c: e:\some\path

You should have MagicIso icon in the tray. Right click Set Number of Drives, then Virtual Cd.DVD-Rom anthe there Change Drive Letter.

Ki-Soo's subst solution seems cleaner, give feedback if it works.

where to write subst? what do you mean by e:\some\path ? I write this command on cmd or in magicIso. if it is in magicIso then where to write it ?

FYI I don't want to change the windows drive letter it will cause problems so please tell me if what I am doing would effect windows, I won't do things that may damage windows my system.

Once I created virtual C drive by subst DOS command the code composer studio run and I succeded in changing the installation path (didn't get any errors).

why I must have drive C in my hardisk (virtual or physical)? I have only E & F and tha'ts make the problem maybe in future version you should disable this limitation or move the check to the next drive letter.

It's probably just some limitation with the InstallShield version that CCS 3.1 uses. Latest version of CCS do not use InstallShield anymore so hopefully it is not longer a limitation.
