Firewall settings

Here is something to try:

Select windows firewall with advanced security from the list

Pick Windows Firewall Properties located at the bottom of the overview section

Under Domain Profile tab, State, Inbound connections must be set for Allow

Outbound connections can be either block or Allow (default)

Hi John,

That works fine. BUT, this is pretty much having the firewall turned off. We don't want to do that.

I have tried turning on TCP & UDP, any port for the license service & vendor daemon programs for both incoming & out-going connections and the client still cannot get a license from the server. This really has me scratching my head. What else is needed?

I found some more info searching windows firewall and FlexNet.  Try the following:

Start Control Panel

Type firewall in the search box at the top right

Click on "Allow programs to communicate through |Windows Firewall

Add lmgrd.exe and tidspssw.exe to the list

I have done that and it still does not work.

Is there another program trying to reach the license server? I see on the server that the vendor daemon log mentioned CCS_DEBUGGER when I had the firewall down & client got a license.

CCS_DEBUGGER is one of the features that CCS requests from the license file.  CCS uses FlexNET licensing which is used by the majority of programs that use software licensing.
