CCSv4 Debugger Not Launching

After Updating code composer Studio the debug option does not launch. The following message it is launched:

Excepetion occurred during launch

Reason: An internal error occurred during 'Creating Debug Server.

Please see the Error log for details

Details are:

Contract ID "@ti.com/DebugServer1;1" is not registered with XPCOM Runtime. (0x80004005)

I tried to delete xpti.dat and compreg.dat and restart CCSv4 on <INSTALL DIR>\ccsv4\DebugServer\win32\components but does not work.

Please any idea of what it is happening and how to solve...

  • Hi,

This error was reported in the past and it seems the solution is to reinstall the MS runtime installer provided with CCS:

For future reference, this problem was tracked down to the Microsoft runtime libraries not being installed by the CCS v4 installer. Running the Microsoft runtime installer (MSVC80_Runtime.msi, included with the CCS v4 install pacakge), allowed the customer to proceed. We're looking at ways to detect and prevent this from occuring in future releases.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • Many thanks dezouza,

I tried that, and the problem persists.

    Any other idea?

Maybe I could export the workspace and then unistall completly the ccs and reinstall step by step... What do you think?

  • Hi,

Yes, I am afraid the CCS installation was somehow unsuccessful when installing this component. Provided you keep a copy of your workspace you can uninstall CCS, remove the directory completely (if there are still leftovers) and then reinstall - make sure you have admin privileges in your system to properly register and install all components.

I would also suggest installing the latest version, as many bugs were fixed.

    Regards,

    Rafael

  • Many Thanks Rafael,

I will try this morning and I wish to tell you and the Community that went sucessful...

  • It works great.

    Many Thanks.

  • I am having the same difficulty that the original poster had.  I tried both steps:

First I uninstalled and reinstalled MSVC80_runtime.msi.  Following that I restarted code composer and tried to initiate a debug session.  Same error (shown at beginning of this thread).

Next I uninstalled everything on my win7 PC related to Texas Instruments.  I had 3 different version of CCS installed at the time and uninstalling one worked, then uninstalling the others didn't really work (complained that it could not complete).  Anyway, I deleted everything in C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments after that.  Then I downloaded the latest CCS (4.2.4.00033) and installed it.  After this I still get the same error.  So I tried the first step again with no luck.

Can anyone spot anything that I should have done differently?  This all started when I used the 'Help->Software Updates->Find and Install' feature.

  • Alright.  I repeated what I did above again but included a reboot for good measure.  It's back to normal, that error no longer appears when I try to start debugging.  I'm going to guess that the reboot is required when removing and re-installing the MSVC80_runtime component.  Not sure, though.

  • is there anyone to solve this problem ? The problem comes from windows update.

  • SOLUTION: Uninstall CCS V4. Delete all of its directories. Then start to setup CCS V4 but do not setup platinium option. Choose microcontroller setup option. The problem will be fixed.
