I can't seem to get the serial terminal to work. I am running the uart_echo_interrupts_standby_LP_MSPM0G3507_nortos_ticlang example. If I plug the launchpad in without Theia running, it echos just fine to Putty. If I start Theia and hook up to the COM port, I get no data at the launchpad. The funny thing is that I am pretty sure it worked before. It is confusing because the serial terminal seems to echo even if the launchpad is not there.

Hi Keith,

Just to verify the situation, are you using PuTTy as your terminal when debugging via CCS?

If so, the cause sounds like a resource conflict on the com port being used by both CCS and PuTTy.

No, Putty works.

I have even tried re-booting between using putty and retrying Theia.

While it appears to receive characters, it simply echos characters I type, it does not transmit.

Are there any other settings for the serial terminal besides just com port and baud?

Hi Keith,

After looking at this further, when hitting "enter" the text on the serial monitor will send through and if you're using the echo uart example you should see the output.

Hi Keith,

I have sent this feedback to have the expected operation of the serial monitor as an input will immediately send (how CCS 12.4 handles the terminal as well as other terminal programs).

Shouldn't that be serial monitor as an "output" since we are sending characters to the external device.

Hi Keith

From my perspective the issue is how the IDE is handling keyboard inputs, based on behavior it waits until the keyboard input is "enter" before sending the data (I do not know if its checking for new line or carriage return). Though specifying where the input is coming from would alleviate any confusion.

The output behavior operates correctly because once the serial monitor sends the data it is correctly sent to the proper COM and with the correct baud.

Ah, I think of the keyboard and Theia as a unit.
