After installing ClearCase, when I try to start CCS v4.2.4, The Eclipse environment comes up for several seconds.  Then an Eclipes error window pops up and the Eclipse environment closes.

I tried this on a second computer installing ClearCase then CCS with the same outcome.

A CCE 3.1 installation works.

    Are you installing the ClearCase Eclipse plugin on CCS or just installing ClearCase itself on the PC?

    Did you try steps #2 and #3 under 'General IDE' of the Troubleshooting guide?

    The issue may be related to having an old version of Java installed (less than 1.5.0). Can you check to see which version of Java you have installed? Open a command window and type "java -version".

    Hi,

    Can you check which java version IE is using? You can find the version by looking under "Internet Options" within IE, select the "Programs" tab and click on "Manage add-ons". Now,right click on Java Plugin and select "More Information". What is the folder path in the "More Information" dialog? i.e C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin.

    If IE is using java1.6 and not an earlier version of java, can you see if there is any proxy script within IE. The proxy script can also be a source of the failure.

    I previously grabbed the java version from the wrong computer (the one where Clearcase was installe then removed). 

    The system with CC and CCS has this java version:

    java version "1.5.0_13"
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_13-b05)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_13-b05, mixed mode)

    I'm running IE 7.  It does not have the right-click options on the plugins.  However, I did a search on the ssv.dll that was listed.

    I found five instances.  They were all 1.5.xxx or 1.6.xxx. 

    1.5.0_06-b05 (altera quartus60), 1.5.0_13-b05 (Java), 1.5.0_14-b03 (ccs4), 1.6.0_07-b06 (Coverity prevent), 1.6.0_03-b05 (altera quartus90),

    Do you have new hs*.log file? I like to see if proxy selection still an issue or not. Do you happened to set any proxy within CCS?

    I'm having the same issue. I've followed the same path

    Is there a fix for this?

    I've got a number of debugServer.dll<DATE_and_TIME>.dmp files that have been generated in the  folder

    C:\documents and settings\<username>\local settings\application data\.ti\<some number>\0\dmp  

    I've sent these files to TI, but have not gotten a response.

    Is anyone at TI working this issue? 

    BTW. Where how do I generate the hs*.log file? Where do i expect to find it?

    I've done a search for the javaw.exe files on my machine.

    I've been able to get code composer to startup here's what I did

    1. I renamed the C:\program files\rational\common\java\jre\bin\javaw.exe   to something like javaw_OEMBAK.exe

    2. Start code composer. At startup code composer automatically displays an "IBM Rational Clearcase" progress dialog box with the message "Please wait while windows configures IBM rational ClearCase". It proceeds to install a number of files.

    3. After the installation I get the message to restart the computer.

    4. I clicked no

    5. Code composer crashes by throwing a JVM exception

    6. I find that the Rational installer reinstalled another C:\program files\rational\common\java\jre\bin\javaw.exe  

    Additional failed attempts...

    I've copied the the TI eclipse\jre\bin\javaw.exe to the C:\program files\rational\common\java\jre\bin\java.exe, but I get the same crash and burn code composer startup issue.

    I revered back to the rational installed javaw.exe and rebooted the machine. After the restart code composer still fails.

    A good friend pointed out a workaround to allow using CCS without clearcase on the machine temporarily.

    Just rename the C:\Program Files\Rational\Common\java to something like _java

    WHen code composer starts just cancel the rational installation dialog boxes.

    SOrry don't have a fix for running both clearcase and CCS concurrently.

    There is a fix for the problem.

    1. Rename the C:\Program Files\Rational\Common\java to something like _java

    If you have a C:\Program Files\Rational\Common\java142_07 directory rename it as well to soemthing like _java142_07

    2. Launch code composer as normal

    3. After launching code composer you'll undoubtedly get a IBM.. popup dialogs-> hit cancel (this pop-up will happen several times)

    4. Select window->preferences

    5. In the preferences dialog select install/updates

    6. Modify the proxy settings to have "manual proxy configuration". Set the HTTP Proxy & HTTPS proxy settings for you network

    7. Click apply

    8. Shut down code composer

    9. Rename the folder(s) in step #1 above back to the original names (ie C:\Program Files\Rational\Common\java)

    This has been done on a couple of machines now and it appears to work.
