Handling SVN branch in CCSv4

I have a CCSv4 workspace with a single project. The project source files exist on a remote file server under SVN control. We have branched the source to a new version, so I wish to change CCS so I can develop within the new source branch. What is the best way to accomplish this? I figured that I should copy the current workspace (say, WSpace_v1.0) and rename it to WSpace_v2.0. Works fine except that I cannot figure out how to change the location of the source files. The old CCSv3 .pjt files were text-based and could be changed with the Find/Replace tool in any editor. I suppose it isn't so, but It would be nice if this were the case with CCSv4. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Steve,

The CCSv4 project files can also be modified in a text editor (they are xml files actually). The file of interest is the ".project" file. It is there that the location of the linked source files are stored.

You may want to look at using linked resource path variables in your project. This way you can make your project more portable and not have to deal with updating paths in your project.

If you "linked" the files to your project then there will be absolute path references in one of the project files. There is a wiki topic here that describes how you can make a CCSv4 project more portable. http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Portable_Projects The concept it describes could also be used for switching between branches as you could just change the variable value. Creating a portable project is a lot easier in v5.1 as when you link a file it gives you the option right away to use a variable.

I haven't worked with SVN but there are plug-ins available for Eclipse that may help as well. Installing in CCSv4 is a bit complicated because it is an old version of Eclipse. More info here: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/SubVersion_plugin_installation#Code_Composer_Studio_v4
