Is there any way to tell if you originally installed the micro-controller or the platinum edition? We are having a license audit done internally, and they say my license is for the micro-controller version, but I think I selected the platinum version when I originally did the install using the 30-day free license. Then when the licenses finally got installed on our server by IT, I re-configured to use the licenses from the server. Do I need to do an un-install and re-install to be sure I have the micro-controller version installed, or is there some way to tell which version I currently have installed?

Hi Chris,

Are you trying to figure out if you have the microcontroller core (code size limited) version or a platinum version? Or if you have an microcontroller full license or platinum full license?

The micro-controller full license or platinum full license version installed. The original install was off the disk that came with the 28335 explorer development kit, the license was installed about two weeks later when our IT department finally put them on the license server.

You can look at your license file to determine the license type:

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Licensing_-_CCS#Q:_I_see_a_license_file_.28.lic.29_in_my_installation._Can_I_find_out_what_type_or_capabilities_are_enabled.3F

The location of the license file should be the same as:

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Licensing_-_CCS#Q:_Why_can.27t_I_find_the_licenselocation.txt_file.3F

It isn't the license that I need to have typed, I know my license is for the micro-controller version. The problem is my memory. I am fairly, but not 100%, sure that I selected the platinum package when I did the software install, but my license is for the micro-controller package. Now I am trying to determine if I did indeed install the platinum package, and have to un-install and then re-install just the micro-controller package because I do only have the micro-controller license.

I don't want to have to un-install and then re-install unless I really do need to, so I am trying to find out if there is a way to determine if I originally installed the platinum package, or if I originally installed the micro-controller package.

Argh. Sorry Chris, I misinterpreted your original question.

You don't have to uninstall. Even if you installed everything (Platinum), you can use the micocontroller license with that install. You just won't be able to start the debugger for any non-microcontroller target. It is not mandatory to do a microcontroller install to use the microcontroller license.

I really didn't want to have to spend half a day doing an uninstall and then a re-install.
