BH-USB-560M Emulator not working anymore

Hi,

I'm using the BH-USB-560M Emulator for many years. I found that updating ccs from v12.0.0.00009 it's not working anymore, it gets stuck at downloading code to the target.

Some context information:

  • CCS v12.x is installed in a 64b W10 Pro updated
  • This happens on different custom target boards, all of them with C2000 family processors, F28335, F28069, F28035, F28075.
  • If I switch back to v12.0.0.00009 or earlier everything is working fine again
  • "Test Connection" in CCS v12.x Target Configuration reports no errors

What is wrong here?

Is BH-USB-560M still suported by the latest versions of CCS?

What can I do?

Regards,

Josep Novell

  • Hello Josep,

A change was made in CCS 12.1 that prevented XDS560v1 based probes from working with it. This would impact all version of CCS greater than 12.0.

This change was made under the assumption that XDS560v1 based probes were no longer supported by CCS. The issue is that there are still XDS560v1 based probe availables as a connection type (like the BH-USB-560M) in current CCS versions. We are working to remove them in future CCS releases.

Hence, if possible, I would recommend staying with CCS 12.0.

There is a workaround to get it working with current CCS versions. This would involve modifying the installation a bit. Obviously this is an unsupported environment but it should work. If you wish to pursue this, let me know.

    Thanks

  • Does this mean that XDS560v1 based probes will become obsolete in future CCS releases?

and, the XDS200 will be supported?

    Thanks,

    Josep

Honestly, it has been obsoleted for awhile. The fact that it was still available as an option as late as 12.x is likely an oversight.

and, the XDS200 will be supported?

XDS200 is actively supported. So is XDS560v2.

    Thanks

  • Hi Ki,

    Understood.

    Thank you for your support.

    I'll close this issue
