Hi,
I'm using the 243x-EVM , with a large ~30MB application.
I've raised the XDS-100 debugger speed from 5.5M to 10M.
If I raise it higher - it stops working.
How can I raise more than 10M ?
Thanks,
Eli

Hello Eli,
I was able to replicate the failure on 14MHz TCK frequency but had no failure at 12MHz. On the TMDS243EVM, the JTAG signals are isolated using the SN74AVC4T245RGYR device. There may be a limitation on the data speeds for the JTAG signals going through the isolation barrier. What speed are you trying to achieve?

Erik
Hi Erik,
I'm on a long ongoing debugging journey + I've noticed that I can't restart the debugger - so every time I have to load all the program into the DDR.
I would very much appreciate some way to speed it up as much as possible.
I'm on 10Mhz now but everything above that stops working.
Thanks,
Eli.
Hello Eli,
Are you using the external XDS100 debug probe? I was able to use the 12MHz frequency clock with the on-board XDS110 probe. Have you tried to use the on-board debug probe?
Regards,
Erik
Hi Erik,
I'm using only the on board probe.
Can I speed up by using an external debug probe ?
Thanks,
Eli.
Hello Eli,
The external debug probes are capable of higher speeds (>10MHz - depending on the probe). It should be noted that the external connector also interfaces through the SN74AVC4T245RGYR device which may be the cause of the t44st connection failure at higher speeds. I do not have the equipment to confirm today if the EVM can use higher clock rates with an external debug probe. I will perform tests with varying frequencies using an external probe and the AM243x EVM later this week. What frequency are you trying to reach?

Erik
Hi Erik,
Thanks for your research and effort.
I'll be glad for 30M , but anything significantly over 10M will be great .
Thanks,
Eli
Hello Eli,
Today I was able to test various JTAG TCLK Frequencies and I can confirm that with the XDS200 external debug probe, the maximum value of 20MHz can be used without failure.

Erik
