c28XX: File Loader: Data validation failed

I migrate my project from CCS V3.3 to V4.2, and use spectrum XDS510 USB emulator for debuging code. Once I start "Debug Active Project", it starts to load program to the XDS510. However, it stops because the following error

C28xx: File Loader: Data verification failed at address 0x003EDDEB Please verify target memory and memory map.

This code works well with CCS V3.3 under Window XP.

Any one can help me to find what I am doing wrong?

Which F28xx device are you using and which version of CCSv4? There were some issues in older versions of CCS4 with c28x, so I would recommend using the latest version and let us know if the problem persists. YOu can download and install the latest version 4.2.4 from http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS#Code_Composer_Studio_Version_4_Downloads

Thank you very much for the reply. I use 2811 DSP. The memory location 0x3EDDEB is the start address of .bios. My current CCS version is 4.2.4.00033. I still working on it.

Can you take the .out file generated from CCS3.3 and load it using CCS4? That is, instead of clicking on "Debug Active Project", right-click on the target configuration file (.ccxml), Launch Selected Configuration. Then go to menu Target->Connect Target, and then Target->Load Program and browse to the location of the .out file generated with CCS3. Do you see the same errors?

Does this error happen when loading other programs as well or just this one? Do you have other BIOS projects to try? A good example is SPRA958 which includes a BIOS example project for F2812 running from Flash. I believe the Flash memory range is the same for F2811 and F2812 but there may be some minor changes you may need to make to section allocation to other memory regions.

I did what you suggested steps. It shows the similar error: Failed to load program 'D:\...\xxx.out' on target 'Spectrum Digital XDS510USB Emulator_0/C28xx'. I need to read the SPRA958 to see what else I can do.

In my DEBUG menu, under TARGET, there is no FLASH option. Do I missed C28xx flash loader program? If it does, could you tell me where I can get it?

The flash programmer is integrated into CCSv4, so you don't need to invoke a separate plug-in as was needed with CCS 3.3. When you click on "Debug active project" in CCSv4, if there are parts of your code allocated to Flash memory, the flash programmer will automatically be invoked and program to Flash.
