issues reading the TMS320C50PQ DSP

I have an old board with the TMS320C50PQ chip that I need to read. I set up a virtual machine with Windows 95 and a MS-DOS application called dsk5d that I found in an old course on DSP. However, even though the application runs, I get no response from the DSP. Any suggestions? Is there any more current software that can communicate with this chip?

Hi Miguel,

C50 is a very old part. After asking around, I figure out that C50 and C55 are very different in terms of CPU architecture. TMS320C50PQ is not on ti.com anymore.

If you have to migrate, you should re-write your code for other available C55x devices, such as C5505, C5515, C5535 or C5517.

Thank you very much for your response, Ming Wei . Well, the board is part of an undergraduate learning module about Signals and Systems. So replacing it is not an option for now.

Unfortunately, none of the TI software packages, tools, even documents support TMS320C50PQ DS, so we cannot provide any further help on this device.
