CCS 4.0 license server problem

Hi, everyone,

I have run into problems activating CCS 4.0 floating license. A license server has been configured by our IT professionals, and I can see all the licensing processes running. However, on the workstation, when I start CCS, it says that the software is unlicensed. I then click on "Licensing Options" under "Help" on the menu bar, and I receive the following error:

I have tried to restart the above mentioned lmgrd and vendor daemon processes several times, still the same error. Any idea? BTW, how to contact TI support on activation issues?

Thanks in advance on your help!

Jian

  • Hi Jian,

That is good that you have tried stoping and restarting the server.

Have you tried rereading the license file?  Have you verified the file is not corrupted?

One thing you can try with this type of error is to make sure the path to the file is less than 32 characters.  Sometimes a long path to the license file can generate this particular error.  Can you please try this?

The following two posts may have one or two other quick things to try with this flexnet error.

Please keep me informed as to whether any of the above ends up helping.

  • Hi Jian,

just thought I would see if there is any update here or whether the above tips helped solve the issue.

  • Hi, Lisa,

Sorry for replying your post so late.  I have been extremely busy in the last several weeks.

No, we still have not solved the licensing issue.  Actually I want to start a tech service call.  I am an associate professor and will supervise a DSP student project next semester.  I don't have direct access to our licensing server; our IT department handles the software installation and maintenance issues.  Could someone from TI email our IT person, Mr. Karl Blankenship, and help him solve this problem?  His email address is kblankenship@semo.edu. Thanks!

  • Hi Jian,

Can you please point Mr. Blankenship to this thread.  We would be happy to continue with him here.  Generally we much prefer to keep things on the forum as a benefit to all.  (eg other people who may be seeing this flex error as well)

So please have Mr. Blankeship try the suggestions and continue on this thread.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hello Jian/Mr. Blankenship,

I was wondering whether there was an update to the enquiry/issue.  I hope the suggestions were able to get you to a resolution.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi, Lisa,

Mr. Blankenship spent a lot of time on this. He re-installed everything, and we found out the problem. Apparently CCS4 does NOT support Win7 64-bit Enterprise edition. I will contact TI University Program and see how I can get the new edition. Does CCS 5 support Win7 64-bit?

Thank you for your help on this issue!

    Jian

  • Hi Jian,

I am glad to hear that you have found the issue, even if it unfortunately means an incompatibility.

Actually I have a Windows 7 64 bit machine myself (not sure if enterprise version) and successfully run both 4.2.4 and 5.1 versions of CCS.   So you should not be seeing any issues.  One item one must be careful with is of course permissions.   Windows 7 is very strict with permissions and so one needs to be an administrator for most things.

    Please keep me posted.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa
