CCSv4 cancel build causes IDE to hang on "refreshing workspace"

This has happened quite frequently. When I hit the "cancel" button on the build popup, the "Details" says "Build Project (Cancelled)", but its hung at "Refreshing Workspace".

I have to use the Windows Task Manager to kill it.

Known problem?

I was just able to reproduce this, although it doesn't happen every time I cancel the build. I'll submit a bug report and update this post with the bug number.

The bug# filed against 4.2.4 is SDSCM00041609.

FYI, I've tried a few times with CCS 5.1 and so far haven't been able to duplicate the CCS hangs when build is cancelled, so it seems much better at handling it.

Hi Aarti,

I was bitten by this bug just now in v4.2.4.00033 . I was editing a source file and hit Ctrl S to save, but accidentally must have hit the short cut to build all.

Canceling build caused a "Building workspace (Cancelled)" dialog, which will not finish. The source file still has an asterisk by its file name, which means it wasnt even saved.

Wondering if there was a workaround or resolution?

This is actually due to a Eclipse bug, and unfortunately there isn't a fix for it at the moment.

Seems like a relatively newly discovered bug. Anyway, I was able to kill the CCS process in Task Manager and restart it. Build worked after that.
