cannot init emulator ezdsp5535!

Just got a brand new ezdsp5535. Installed CCS that comes on CD, v4.2.4.0033. Installed not on C:\ (it complains), but on another internal HDD F:\ with UAC set to zero-all down. Windows 7 64-bit.

If I connect the USB (after CCS installation), with SD inserted, the USB speaker device comes up and works. Also a composite USB device shows up.

If I remove the SD card, and connect the USB, I got an error in Device Manager with unknown driver TMSC5505 (?). I cannot find any driver for this brick.

In any of two cases above, if I compile a simple program, and use software simulator, it works ok.

When I decide to set up the proper target, namely the "Spectrum Digital DSK-EVM-eZdsp onboard USB Emulator" with device EZDSP5535, I always get the "Error initalizing emulator".

List of tries done:

- reboot n->oo times

- changed  USB ports

- removed USB drivers

- reinstalled CCS

- checked the registry to remove any residual Spectrum Digital keys

- upgraded (CCS Help->Software Updates) to latest Spectrum Digital drivers

- upgraded (CCS Help->Software Updates) to latest CCS tools (now 4.3.9)

Wonder if I should put this board into the dustbin.

Any help greatly appreciated.

  • Ok I messed up some description in my last post, the driver issues was related to connection to J1 USB miniport, while for debugger you must connect to J2 USB port (as clearly stated in Quick Guide).

The error initializing emulator is anyway the same.

I had to remove all of my USB drivers on there, including the one used by other devel systems (Atmel/Jungo IAR... libusb for avrdude,..)

    Rebooted

    Reinstalled  CCS

    Attached the board

    Now it works.

Finally I reinstalled all of my other devel systems, and they seems to work, too.

Do not know how how other USB drivers could interfere...
