Regarding using SMSET module on Netra Board.

Hi,

I am using XDS560v2 STM for Netra platform. Both are Spectrum Digital made.  I am using CCS4.2.

When I configure the Trace Control for Receiver ARM9_0/1 (when it is in paused state) I get the following error message

Error

Thu Sep 08 12:14:39 IST 2011

Channel error: Trace Channel Error: Not supported - Get Trace Type

And when I configure Trace Control for Receiver ARM9_0/1 (when it is in running state) I get the following error message

Error

Thu Sep 08 12:12:49 IST 2011

Error: ARM9_TPPSS: Failed to retrieve the Wait in Reset Mode: Failed to get PRSC status

Are there some Plugins I need to install? Or I am missing some initialization or the JTAG does not support it?

Please help asap.

Thanks & Regards,

  • Viranjan,

Are you trying to collect SMSET trace via STM? If so, you need to connect to the CSSTM_0 node and select the CSSTM_0 in the trace control.

If you are trying to simply do Core trace, then you can only do this on the A8 and the DSP.

    Reference:

    Hope this helps,

  • Rafael,

    Thanks for your reply.

Now I am trying to collect SMSET trace via STM.

I am referring to Using_SMSET.pdf  from the link you have shared. However as mentioned in the pdf when the receiver is set properly, when I execute the 11th step, I am not able to add the Trace UBM function. What does this Trace UBM function mean?  Should all this be done from the view of CSSTM_0 processor?  Now if I want to take trace of events occurring on  iCont0 processor then what is the procedure to take that trace of events? Also in the properties of any breakpoint I am not seeing the type as STM Trace Type where I can set it as IVA_HD0_SMSET.

    Please help.

I have the XDS560v2STM USB emulator Spectrum Digital made.

  • One addition

When I start the trace and stop the trace I am seeing error  data error prevented the collected data from be syncronized.

Is this because I am not able to execute the 11th step mentioned in the Using_SMSET.pdf (as I am not seeing any Trace UBM function)
  • Hi,

I am using CCS 4.2.3 and SD XDS560v2 JTAG Emulator to collect SMSET trace information via STM on OMAP4-IVAHD. I am following Using_SMSET.pdf document, but UBM properties window is not showing any IVA_HD0/1/2_SMSET STM trace type (13th step). For this any plug-in or CCS updating is required?

After that I have tried with system Trace type with "System Event Detection",  With this I am getting proper trace display and logic analyzer data ( similar to diagrams shown in the document), but other graphs such as IVAHD scope/scope2, IVAHD duration per algo etc showing empty data only. These are all checked from Trace Analyzer.

If you have any ideas to solve this please share.

  • Viranjan,

Adding SMSET trace function can be done for any processors as far as CSSTM processor is connected. But add it from CSSTM processor make it easy since for this processor the only Breakpoint Functions it supports is Trace.

UBM function is Universal Breakpoint Mangerment function, which are the emulation functions including trace supported by the current processor. For CSSTM the only option is Trace. When you hit triangle button above Trace show in the picture for Step 11 do you see a Trace function listed as step 11 shown? If you do see the option select this Trace. Then you will see a function added to Breapoint pane and can follow the rest of instructions.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi Joe Liu,

    Thanks for your reply.

When I hit the triangle button above the Trace shown in the picture(Using_SMSET.pdf) for Step 11, I do not see the Trace function listed as step 11.

If I manually add the Trace function as shown in the image below I do not see the properties option on right click as it shows me an unresolved breakpoint.

For your reference please watch the following image.

  • Can anybody help?

I am not able to add the trace UBM function in the CCSTM_0's view.....
