Licensing error in CCS4

Hi,

I already have a limited license for the on-board emulators and now want to use external emulator.

I am not able to get an additional license for "Spectrum XDS510USB emulator" .


My present license does not support the OMAP-L138 connection type thrugh the XDS510 USB emulator . CCS directs me to TI site where I entered the old Action ID. But it shows that no more licenses can be issued on this activation ID. How to go about this issue.
Shall I have obtain additional licenses for every emulator that I use? please reply soon.

    Hi Prat,

    unfortunately for the free license that comes with certain evms, support for all emulators is not included.  Please see this wiki topic where this is explained.

    If you wish to continue with the XDS510 you will have to buy a full license.

    Hi Leesa,

    Actually I got ccs3.3 along with the OMAP-L138 dev board . Can I use the xdc tools that are supplied along with it in CD/DVD . The DSK DVD has a .exe file with the name "xdctools_setupwin32_3_15_01_59.exe" . I installed but still the error not resolved. I hope this is licensed tool. Am I correct ?

    Hi Prat,

    the XDC tools are actually independant of your CCS license and will not "Unlock" the CCS License for you.

    Unfortunately you will have to either purchase a CCS license or continue to use onboard/tools supported in the free version you received with your kit.

    Bundle License (Free Limited License): We include a free version of CCS with many of our community boards, DSKs and EVM (Evaluation Module) kits.  These kits come with a development board, software and CCS.  The CCS will only work with the onboard emulation on the board.  This free license can also be used with simulators or with XDS100 class emulators as well as the XDS560v2 mezzanine card available in C6000 multi-core EVM bundles.  You may use this version to create production code.

    Just one last question before closing. Can a XDS100 V2 external USB JTAG adapter solve this license problem?

    Hi Prat,

    yes I believe with your license the XDS100 v2 should not be blocked and should be fine.  It also supports the OMAPL138 you are using.
