CCS 5 and Windows 7 x64 crash

Hello, I can't find any section for error reporting. If it's not right place then sorry. description below.

CCS version: 5.1.0.06000

Windows 7 64-bit, with all updates

Debug session: TCI6618 simulator (but same thing happens in other cases)

Every second time I click "Debug" there is crash during program loading. First it is info "Program is not responding" and next CCS is just being closed. After restart of CCS situation repeats - first debug session works fine, but when I stop it using STOP button (red square) it can't be started again.

Generally I found both CCS 4 and 5 extremely unstable under 64-bit WIndows. There are many random crashes and CCSv4 can't start debug session even once. I'd like to mention that I'm also using latest eclipse (32-bit) with gcc, and there are no such problems.

I hope my feedback will be useful.

  • Hi Michal,

I think I can reproduce your issue.

When you selected the Debug button, you should have been prompted which core you would like to load the program for. Which cores did you select?

If you do a project less debug session (launch the debugger for the target configuration, instead of the debugging a project) and then manually load the program, does it still crash?

    Thanks

    ki

  • Program is loaded to core0, because in "Debug Configurations" window I've unchecked other cores. However with all 4 cores selected same behavior could been observed. Also, I was wrong before saying that crash took place during program loading. it happens when window "Configuring Debugger" with progress bar appears. So starting debugger without project didn't change anything - debug session started without program loaded. After selecting .out file it worked fine, but only once.

There is also one important thing - when debug session started properly program can be rebuild and reload. As long as I don't click stop button everything works fine, because "Configuring Debugger" don't need to be started.

  • Has this issue been resolved?  I'm also running Win7-64 and need CCS5 to resolve an issue with SitaraWare.
