Question about the Texas Instruments Simulator within CCS4

Hello,

I am completely new to this, so please excuse my ignorance.  I am a software person interested in the simulation of the chipsets that we will be using for my groups hardware project.  We will be using the f283x series of microcontroller.  Within CCS4 I can see that the TI simulator provided with the software is available for simulating the f283x completely in software.  The only caveat is that no peripherals are supported.

My question is whether there is a way to write software to add this peripheral support within the TI simulator?

The reason I am asking is that I would like to be able to simulate the process of reading data into the processor completely in software.  Tis would allow me to develop a testing library for the engineers that are developing the code to run on the microcontroller, and have it available to them before we get the actual hardware or development boards.

Does anyone know whether this is possible at all?

Thanks, and again - pardon any obvious ignorance - I am new to this stuff.
