  • Hi Anita,

it looks from the message, that you lost connection to your license server.  So I would check

    - if you have other programs that use flexLM, are they also down?
-I would contact your license administrator

    Keep us informed.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

I am the server admin and as far as I can tell everything is working fine.  This license service was running fine - then stopped working.  I went to the web page and tried to restart the service and it wont start - so I sent the logs over.  I know we lost connection to the license server as this message is the log from the license server.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Anita

  • Hi Anita,

hmm without further information it is hard to say much.

Do you get any flexLM/flexNET error messages?

Are there any other error symptoms/logs/info you could send that might help us diagnose?

Was there a change at the same time in the setup that could have triggered this?

Have you double checked that the appropriate ports (typically 27000-28000) are opened up through the firewall?  This is one thing that could be blocking access.

    Please keep me informed.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

I sent the logs over from the server in the original post.

Nothing has changed &  the server hasn't had any issues - the license manager is running in the services - the server is not running a firewall and the port is specified properly and hasn't changed.

    thanks,

    Anita

  • Hi Anita,

what version of the sever are you running and on what platform?  I have found online that apparently FLEXnet 11.4 on Solaris gives this error regularly, however there should be a newer version.   Please check this and keep me informed.   Also double check the port used by lmgrd is free before startup and the pcs are all in the same subnet with access to that port.  Although from what you say, the port should not be the problem.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

We are running WIndows Server 2003 - Standard R2

We are running Code Composer 4 - we are running version 11.10.0

The lmgrd seems fine - I restarted it a few times and it restarted fine

but I cant actually start the vendor daemon successfully

    Thanks,

    Anita

  • Hi Anita,

ok I am going to see if I can get a bit of help from some colleagues here.

Did anything change or get installed to trigger the problem?  Ie are there any clues that the server stopped working all of a sudden such as a coincidental installation of a driver, software, other flexnet license etc.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

this isnt working - if I try the first link - I cant set DEP attributes on x64 machines (which my server is)

the second link has no useful information pertaining to the problem we are experiencing - nothing is blocking port 27001 (which is the port that we have been using from the beginning) - the firewall is off

I ran a port scanner to ensure that the port 27001 is open and listening and it is

    thanks,

    Anita

  • Hi Anita,

ok, sorry if the links were not very helpful.

I am going to take this to some colleagues as I am currently not much of an expert with the FlexLM tools and setup.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • This seems to have been resolved offline so I am closing this case.

Anita, feel free to let us know if any further issues come up.

    Cheers,
    Lisa

  • Just in case someone has this problem, here's my solution.

    1. Go to task manager on the Windows server and end the tidspssw.exe process.

    2. Restart the server in lmtools.

    Hope it helps.

    Gary

  • I know this is an old post, however I just experienced the same as the originator.  the only difference is that I am on Server 2008.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as this just stopped working at 3:00 AM in the morning.  Nothing has been installed/changed/updated.   The Windows Firewall is turned OFF.

    Thank you.
