TMDSLCDK138: C6xxx DSP support roadmap

Part Number: TMDSLCDK138

Tool/software:

Are there plans to support the following device families in Code Composer Studio Theia?:

  • TMS320C6000 digital signal processors
  • OMAP-L13x - ARM9 + C674x DSP SoC

If the final release of the Eclipse edition of Code Composer Studio is expected to be 12.8, will DSP support end with CCSv12.8?

  • Patrick,

The current plan is for these devices to be added in CCSv20. CCSv20 will be at the end of this year and is when we stop having separate CCS Eclipse and CCS Theia releases.

Note that some features will not be available for these older devices. For example the project wizard relies on the SDK being present in Resource Explorer so you would not be able to use that. For the older devices the assumption is that you would have existing projects that would be imported.

For C6000 DSPs there are some very old devices like C620x and C670x that would not be supported.

    John

  • John,

How about C641x, C667x? Is it still possible to have v6 and v7 compilers for C6x?

  • Victor,

C667x will be supported. I will need to check on C641x as I believe those devices are out of design support.  https://www.ti.com/product/TMS320C6414T

As far as compilers we would not bundle either the v6 or v7 C6000 compiler but you can use them with CCSv20.  i.e. CCS will detect them and allow you to use them.

    Regards,

    John
