CCS v5 M8.5 Linux release for use on the TI8148

I'm a bit new to CCS, but I've had experience working with a number of other ICE/JTAG debuggers, and most of them have a feature I can't seem to find in CCS.  I'm using the TI 8148EVM and I'm looking to see the registers associated with the built-in peripherals.  When I connect with a target configuration and bring up the registers dialog it seems to show the ARM-based registers only, and non of the registers associated with the peripherals.  Is there some other dialog that has this information?

  • Joe,

CCS has this feature but unfortunately doesn't have it for DM8148 at this time.  Basically we need to provide xml description files for the device & peripherals and then you will see the registers.  The first step is for us to get xml files so that you can at least select each DM81xx device in CCS and then work on getting more complete files that contain all of the peripheral register information.  There is someone looking into this.  I don't have a timeline for the files at this time.  I know that they won't make it in time for the 5.1.0 release but I am hopeful that they will be available some time before the end of year.

    Regards,

    John

  • Too bad for us...I need this feature in the next week or so.

When it is released how will it be released, are you going to release it as an update for CCS, or are you just going to make it available as something stand-alone that user can add themselves.  I just wondering how I'm going to know that this feature has been completed?

  • The files would be included in a CCS Service release but I plan on sticking them in a zip on the CCS download page as soon as they are available.  For most issues I would just give you a defect tracking number but for these files they come from the device teams and they don't use the same system.
