Hi,
I just installed the latest ccs5.1 release ((5.1 RC1, Release Candidate, 5.1.0.08020, Oct 12, 2011), along with BIOS-MCSDK 02_00_03_1.
Now I receive a licensing error, when I connect to my Avantech EVMC6678 Evaluation Board.
The EVM6678 uses an onboard xds100v1 usb emulator. It seems that the restricted license for xds100 ist not recognized properly.
It use the restricted license file, which came with the Evaluation Board CD (CCSv5.0-EVM-C6678.lic). This workes fine for CCS v5.0, but fails for CCS 5.1 RC1.
License File CCSv5.0-EVM-C6678.lic:

Alois,
I suspect that RC1 i requiring a v5 version of the license instead of a v4. 5.0 and 5.1 betas would accept v4 licenses. I am checking with the dev team to confirm.
john
Yes, RC1 has been updated to require a v5 license.
Here is one you can use for the C6678 EVM. 2783.CCSv5-EVM-C6678.lic
Alternatively you can generate one by going to Help -> Code Composer Studio Licensing Information. Click on the Upgrade Tab, the click on the Launch License Setup button. it should give you an option to create a free license that works with dev kits.
Regards,
John
Hi John,
your infos helped a lot, the v5 license works fine now.
many thanks
Alois
I've run into the same issue, except I'm using an XDS510 emulator (which I believe is not supported by the free lic option). How do I go about upgrading my existing 4.0 license into a 5.1 license?
TI should probably update the Release Notes to clarify. The notes still say a 4.0 license can be reused under 5.1 (which is no longer the case starting with CCS RC1).
Brian,
I added a link to a license file on the download page that you can use through Dec.
http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS#Code_Composer_Studio_Version_5_Downloads
Once we release the final 5.1.0 image if your subscription is valid you will be able to go to www.ti.com/myregisteredsoftware and upgrade your license to a v5 license.
Yes we need to update our release notes.
Regards,
John
