6455 EVM NDK

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6455, TMS320C6454

Hi,

We have bought the TMS320C6455 EVM and need to build a network application. The CCS provided with this EVM is 3.2. The NDK 2.0 is built on CCS 3.3. Can I use the same NDK in CCS 3.2. With this EVM as referance we are building our own 6454 board. Can I use this CCS 3.2 for my board also. The Emulator which we have is XDS510PP. Can I use this Emulator for TMS320C6454 processor. For this processor and Emulator which version of CCS is compatible.

Please clarify my doubts.

Thanks and Regards,

  • Your questions are CCS and tools related so we will move this thread to the Code Composer Forum where the real experts are. Answers from this hardware forum will not be as complete as what they may offer.

Please note that there is no license fee for CCSv5 when using it with a direct USB cable connection to an EVM's on-board emulator. And you can buy an XDS100v2 emulator pod for less than US$100, and there is no license fee for CCSv5 when using the XDS100v2 (or v1) with any board.

I trust that you understand that CCS 3.2 and CCS 3.3 are no longer supported. I am not sure about the emulator support, either. But if you have a valid copy of CCS 3.2 and it still works for you, then I wish you all the best.

The big concerns for the NDK are the compiler tools and the libraries it may reference. If you can the same CodeGen tools and the same CSL and other libraries, then you should be able to build or use the NDK with CCS 3.2. I have no way to confirm that, so there may be risks involved. You can try it and if it works, great. If not, it is time to move to CCSv5.

If you go into CCSetup and find XDS510PP support for the C645x, you can use it with the C6454.

    Regards,
    RandyP
