Error during install of 3.2.0

I am trying to install 3.2 after a previous installation was removed. When uninstalling the old install the uninstaller hung and the task had to be ended.

Now when I try to install I get the following:

Errors occurred during the installation.<ul><li>Unable to install Code Composer Essentials v3 over Code Composer Essentials v3.1 SR1: Installed product has newer version.</ul>

I have tried removing the registry keys in LOCAL_MACHINE/software/Texas Instruments... But this does not seem to fix the issue. Any Ideas?

  • Hi Scott,

I would recommend installing CCSv4... or better yet, CCSv5.1. The CCE products are no longer supported and MSP430 users are recommended to move of CCE in favor of v4 and 5.1

    Thanks

  • Scott,

Are you trying to install in the same directory that the old CCE installation was in?  If so have you tried a different directory.  If the installer thinks that there is an existing installation in that folder (because the uninstall of the old one failed) it is not going to let you install there.

Are you installing CCE because you have an older product to support?  One thing to note is that it is possible to configure CCSv4 or CCSv5 to use older versions of the compiler.  That way you could move to the newer supported product but still use the same compiler you originally used for your project.

    Regards,

    John

  • This could work for us.

First, do you have to convert anything in the project files in order to use them with version 5?

Second, are the older version of the compilers installed by default or do you have to install them separately? If I need to install it separately, do I need to install it with the older version of CCE or are there stand alone installers for the old version of the compiler?

  • I spoke with a FAE that said that you would be able to help me get version 3 installed correctly. Do you have any thoughts on this?

  • Scott,

    Can you answer John's question:

Also please let me know which Windows version you are using.

    Thanks
