I installed CCS 12.8.1 on my Ubuntu 20.04.LTS and was able to run without error.

Just to confirm, you resolved all the dependencies mentioned in the link below?

The installer dependency checker should have reported no missing dependencies.

Sure. I've ran manually:
sudo apt install libc6-i386 libusb-0.1-4 libgconf-2-4 libncurses5 libpython2.7 libtinfo5

The installer wouldn't have let me continue. For context I've used an offline installer, since my computer is behind corporate proxy.

After the installation:

If i run with sudo ./ccstudio then i just get the "Segmentation fault" error without the (core dumped).

Running with -clean didn't help.

Yes, this is the most reliable way to install.

Can you generate and attach the Eclipse debug console log? Please refer to the "Eclipse debug log" section of the below document:

According to the CCS Diagnostics Log page:

> [CCS INSTALL DIR]/ccs/eclipse/ccstudio -debug -consoleLog

This will open a separate debug console in addition to the CCS IDE. When an error or crash occures, check the debug console for any errors. The relevant error messages can then be copied to a file and provided to TI support.

But since CCS does not even start, there is no logging window:

vim1bp@BP-C-003DU:~/ti/ccs1281/ccs/eclipse$ sudo ./ccstudio -debug -consoleLog
Segmentation fault

Any other idea?

Are you able to run ./eclipse in the same folder?

Unfortunately it will be difficult to debug with being able to see any logs or diagnostic information. I wonder if you have a corrupt install. Perhaps try a fresh reinstall (make sure you completely delete the existing install folder and any workspace folder if it was created)?
